Greetings,
I'm working (very slowly) on the tga driver for the kernel framebuffer (and
someday the X server). My system has a ZLXp-E2 card and SRM console, so
there are some things I can't test. Can anyone answer some of these
questions?
1.) Are the hardware resolution settings on the ZLXp-Ex respected for
ARC/MILO loaders? I'm adding support to the tgafb to use the existing
settings and I don't know how ARC/MILO booted systems will react.
2.) The 21030 book talks about using the register aliases in address space
to avoid mis-ordered writes or use of mb(). However, the section
explaining how to do this is a bit confusing (to me). I can see how it
works, but I don't understand the part about when to use the aliases.
3.) I can determine the x and y resolutions, the left, right, upper and
lower margins, and the hsync and vsync lengths by reading vhcr and vvcr.
But how can I determine the refresh rate and pixel clock settings?
thanks,
-bp
