I tried to install RH 6.0 on a DS20 the way it is described in
http://www.digital.com/alphaserver/linux/install_guid.html
Everything works fine up to the point when the ramdisk-disk
has been inserted and uncompressed: I am thrown back to the SRM
console and I am told that the processor halted
I have already tried a number of fixes:
1. Somewhere in this list it was written, that with some Versions of
SRM os_type should be set to vms. Tried that.
2. Got the newest ramdisk.img from redhat.com. Didn't help.
The Hardware in the DS20 (as reported by AlphaBIOS) is
DIGITAL PBXGB - VGA (PowerStorm 3D10)
two NCRC875 - SCSI
Digital 21140 - Ethernet
Could anyone tell me if the hardware is the problem (all the components
were installed by Compaq so I naively thought that they can't be a
problem)?
Or is there something that isn't mentioned in the Installation Guide?
Please help me, I don't want to be stuck with just Windows NT on that machine.
