I heared an issue about RH6.0 for Alpha doesn't install kernel to /vmlinux.gz
how about the following???
if you type
MILO> boot sda2:vmlinux.gz root=/dev/sda2
and get an error
MILO: Failed to load the kernel
then do
MILO> boot sdb1:boot/vmlinuz-2.2.5-16 root=/dev/sdb1
