Hi Cameron,

What everybody is affraid to tell you is this:
"There is no such thing as a Netscape WEB-Browser that
is running on Linux/Alpha."
That's true! Yes, I know that on the back side of the RedHat Linux/Alpha
box there is a screen shot that shows a Netscape WEB-Browser on it
but this screen shot is taken on a Linux/Intel system (or the Netscape
part is beeing displayed from an Intel system to an Alpha box ;-).
The manuals are generic for all architectures so don't assume that when
something is available for Linux/Intel that it also is for Linux/Alpha.
Even the Alpha-specific booklet has the above mentioned screen shot
on the back but INSIDE the booklet Netscape is not mentioned.
So, for now there is no Netscape V4.x WEB-Browser on any Linux/Alpha.
That's why there are some workarounds like using premature Mozilla or
kfm out of KDE's suite to have some WEB-Browsing.
The problem seems to be the lack of a C-Compiler with a 32bit
compatibility
switch on Linux/Alpha. Since the Netscape V4.x code stream is pure
32bit,
it won't compile on a 64bit architecture like Linux/Alpha. (Tru64 UNIX
C-Compilers have a 32bit compatibility flag for that matter).
I think the upcoming Netscape V5 (is this Mozilla?) will be 64bit so
that
WEB-Browser should become available for Linux/Alpha as well.
