Looking for some direction \ information \ guidance on the following..
I have "tinkerer" experience with ALPHA and Intel LINUX. I would like to use an
ALPHA (insert recommended speed and memory here) in a small office (15-20
clients or so) as an Xserver/file server. All of the clients will be older Intel
machines working as X-terminals.
Mostly running an office suite like Applix or Star office or similar APX capable
suite. Also any comments on the usability of an X-term over 56K or ISDN lines.
Since most office suites are not multi threaded (I would guess), a dual
processor machine would not be of any performance benefit?
I would assume that the "learning curve" is more of a "learning cliff" , but any
pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx
Bill B
