Well , just to let U know:
I used a multia as a workstation, it had a (5400 rpm) 3.5 inch harddisk
in it ,
and I used it without the stand, with little room around the box and it
just kept running,
with uptimes of over 4 months.
And I use one with a 2.5 inch harddisk in it now , also without the
stand. Only problems I have ever had ,
was the famous power supply connector.

Definitely. And I _never_ install a hard drive inside the case; I
always make sure it is external.
