Hi,
My problem is that I cannot get my ppp connection going despite
being able to do it in minicom. I've tried putting the "\~" " " at the
end of the chat script and I've tried switching from ttyS2 to ttyS3 both
on IRQ 5. I tried ttyS1 with irq 3 but was unable to get minicom to work
under this--I suspect because com2 already has this port and I do not
know how to disable a port in my alpha. The modem is a 3com 56K fax
modem and it works fine with minicom. pppd seems to die after it makes
the serial connection and issues the log message ppp0 <--> ttyS3. I am
running redhat 5.2 alpha.
I am considering trying to reload the entire system from scratch as my
next step in trying to get this to work. What puzzles me is why it works
under minicom but not pppd. If anybody has a 3com 56K internal modem
working in an Alpha AS200 4/233 and has seen this problem, I would be
much indebted to know how you got past it. Below is a portion of the
logfile. Thanks in advance. Kerry
