Ditto on the positive spin on Compaq's involvement with Linux. 

But let me just add another "vote" to the compiler issue for the sake
of Compaq/Digital people tuned in.  We are about to spend $1500 per
licence (AUS funny money, about $US1K) for NAG f90 for Alpha/Linux.
We would certainly have paid at least that much for the DU compiler
ported to Linux!
