Hello,
I have an EXB-8700LT 8mm tape drive attached to Alpha 533 under RH4.2.
Following the online mt manual, I tried to use high-density format 8500c
supported on this drive by using
mt -f /dev/st0 setdensity 0x8c
or mt -f /dev/st0 setdensity 140
Both didn't work. The command didn't fail but the density still remains
0x0 (default) by checking mt -f /dev/st0 status. The default format
writes 5GB and the 8500c format should write 10 GB which I could not get.
Could anyone help on how to use the compressed 8500 density format
on Linux?
Please send email also to sunyf@ldeo.columbia.edu
Thanks,
Yue-Feng Sun
