i'm trying to get it in for quite some time, but since no new
hardware support is due for 2.2.x (as far as i know) it will
not be included in the current kernel.
the best i could do, was getting it into the ide-udma development
kernel patches. it'll probably take 2.3.x to get it into the 
kernel :-(.

that's the only thing it does the rest is done by the generic ide
support. and the parts initialized are only those relevant to the
ide support.

i don't know since i only looked at the ide specific parts of the chip,
but have a look at the datasheet, there are lot's of registers :-).

ask cypress? they've build it, so maybe they can help.
