Ramon,
I have had success on our Sable with
boot dva0 -file vmlinux.gz -flags "root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1
prompt_ramdisk=1"
(written in one line in SRM). Our system is a Sable (AlphaServer 2100 4/275)
with two CPUs (and SMP support since 2.2.4-ac1!). Please have the ramdisk disk
ready, you will be prompted for.
BTW:
If you want to try the brand new SuSE Linux 6.1 BETA for AXP, you can use the
same command line, but you must replace the kernel vmlinux.gz (made with make
boot) on the boot disk (contains a ext2 file system) with a 2.2.4-ac1 kernel
with srm boot enabled and ram disk support (2.2.5 not tried yet). I've had
problems with YaST on our system, because there were problems with the ram
disk. On my Miata 433au it works (with image aboot), but only without network
device eth0 (with RH 5.2 this is no problem, even with 100 MB). The YaST
installation itself is very simple and fast, and in IMHO better to control and
understand than the RH tool.
