I was hoping someone could offer some advice on getting my alphastation 200 to boot from the hard drive. I read Richard Tibbetts' comments back in july of 1998 but have still not been successful at getting my machine to boot properly. I am currently booting off a floppy disk 'boot dva -file 5/vmlinux.gz -flags "root=/dev/sda5"' but it just doesn't feel right. Every time I try to 'boot dka0' I get: block 0 of dka0.0.0.6.0 is not a valid boot block bootstrap failure' I already have data on my drive and am hoping to keep it :) I am running a pretty vanilla full install of Apollo. Any help would be most appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [root@sprout /root]# swriteboot -v /dev/sda2 /boot/bootlx Existing disk label is corrupt Couldn't get a valid disk label, exiting [root@sprout /root]# fdisk Using /dev/sda as default device!
