When I got a cable modem from comcast@home I had/still have a Mac. Tey came
out, stuck a Nic into my Mac's PDS slot and configured the tcp control panel
and that was pretty much it. Since then I've gotten another IP address, set up
a mini network with the Mac and my Thinkpad 600 which is dual boot NT and
OpenLinux. Works really great. The only thing you have to be aware about is
that when setting up your email, you have to explicitly give the complete pop
host and smtp address. On NT with Outlook Express or Outlook or Exchange, you
can get away with just putting "mail" for both pop and smtp but with linux I
had to put the complete address "mail.union3.nj.home.com"
