I installed Mandrake 6.1 as an update to RH 6.0 on an intel box.
Big mistake. c++ didn't work (wouldn't compile hello_world). It seemed
to change some of my configuration files. It installed some pre-version
of the 2.2.13 kernel without telling me what pre-version (2.2.13 final
hadn't even been released yet).
It struck me as a marketing-driven distribution that wanted to say that
it had all the latest things even when that didn't make sense (e.g.,
since RH 6.1 has the 2.2.12 kernel, Mandrake had to have the 2.2.13
kernel even before 2.2.13 was released). I backed it out (painfully)
and upgraded to RH 6.1 proper.
