Now that you suggest it, I am sure of it, I suspected
such before. The card type is identified only by
SCSIBIOS, not AHA-78xx like my plain 2940.

Thanks for the link! Oddly enough, I run linload (or
loadlin?) and MILO from a hard disk on the U2W bus,
and boot my kernel from floppy. Your statements
before make much more sense to me now.
