Floating Exceptions

I'm using Redhat Linux 5.2 on a AXP-Alpha and have problems with
floating exceptions. I'm using CPML which prevents some
floating exceptions. Still, by divison by a small number e.g. I
get

floating exception (core dumped)

and my program stops. I cannot prevent the errors, because my
code is automatically generated and changes frequently, all I
need is to prevent a crash of the program. It needs to continue!

I tried what I read in some earlier message in this list:
compiling with -mieee
but it didn't help.

Also signal.h with a handler routine do not work.

Anybody has a solution?
