ramdisk ok, but...

hey again. thanks to everyone with help on the ramdisk- i finally found a
good floppy and it works fine.
however, the problem with installation still remains. when it enters the
'find installation files' stage, it still says
'error opening header file: no such file or directory.'
the cd i'm speaking of was one my friend made on his computer, and though
it works fine, i think he left out some documentation to cut down on
download time. this may have altered the directory structure very
slightly, and if the installer has hard-coded rules for where to find the
files, then i can understand this error.
this is the only theory i can come up with. sound plausible? has anyone
encountered this before?
