Re: hang ups

checking /var/log/messages does not give me a clue. I am attaching that file.
after the hang up neither of ftp telnet http work plus machine does not respond
to ping.
there are no other users except root and the default ones.
what I suspect is if there is some thing like power management on. because it
hangs up if the machine remains idle but I do not know how to check that.
I do not know if rebuilding the kernel will work most probably the machine will
hang in the middle...
any ideas??
