That too, but it is a very sticky mess if you ask me. On one side you have
a distribution that is lacking in some areas and on the other side you have
some serious problems with 6.0.
The NFS packages that are out now vs. what is distributed in 5.2 contains a
greatly revised NFS implementation. Looking around on
ftp.us.kernel.org/pub/linux/devel/gcc it looks like the most current
version of knfsd (and assoicated tools) seems to be 1.4.7 and Rh 5.2 is not
even distributed with a maintained NFS implementation.
It looks like the only avalible rpm's for updates that are avaliable from
redhat for nfs is a security correction that fixes nfs-server
root-squashing. It also looks like the default 5.2 kernel is 2.0.36, there
have been so many changes to nfs since that kernel release.
I'm not sure if the 2.0.x kernels support knfs so he might need to upgrade
his kernel and build his own knfsd packages to make everything copasetic.
But moving to Rh 6.0 and correcting 6.0 problems might be just as annoying.
