For the record, Compaq said that they would no longer support 32-bit Alpha/NT,
but they would support the 64-bit version that Microsoft had been promising
for a while.
Within the next week, Microsoft announced that they would be dropping support
for 64-bit Alpha/NT, and by the way, they have 64-bit NT running on Merced.
3 guesses which 64-bit architecture they developed on while Merced was a
CAD dream.
