RH 6.1 Problems

After numerous problems, I have RH 6.1 running on my 164SX.  There are still
a couple of problems that I need to address.   

1) There seems to be some extremely stringent timing in the driver for the
Symbios 875 that prevents me from using my Yamaha CRW4416S ( for reading,
haven't tried writing with it yet on Linux ).  Also if I have my Seagate
ST15150N ( 4 gig Barracuda, Narrow SCSI ) attached to the host adapter, the
system will not even boot.  Both these SCSI peripherals work fine under NT (
that I am trying to expunge from my system ).

2) I have the shared libs from DU 4.0a.  I have Netscape Communicator 4.7.
I can't get Netscape to use DNS.  I can load a site if I type the IP address
in the URL, but Mnemonic addresses give me an error message about $SOCKS_NS
environment variable.  I Also tried the NO_ASYNC_DNS=True variable with no
positive results.
