the alpha linux version 1.1 is terribly slow. On my Cabriolet (275mhz)
it took 22+ hours. The same machine with NT takes about 13 hours. I have
not heard what an osf compiled version does on this box.
Similar differences have been reported on 21164 based boxes too.
A DEC compiled version for Alpha Linux would be the answer.
