Yup, you missed it.  Basically, they kicked it off by dropping heavy
hints on the kernel list about how much they'd love to be able to hack 
some alpha stuff.  I cross-posted their message to this list in the
hope that someone would be able to provide them with some loaner
hardware.  Apparently someone spoke to them the same day.

Isn't the internet an amazing thing?
