Not a clue which one is more popular. KDE is plain broken. It has a
built-in ability to what it looks like to crash a video hardware (yes,
this seems to be not an X server but on a lower level). After this will
happen you will have no keyboard and no mouse although a network
connection, if exists, still should be good enough to login and reboot
(you will have hurry before this opportunity will die too).
Removing "Gnome" entry from KDE menus will change the situation from
"on demand" to "random, with no apparent reason".
NOT using Enlightement window manager with Gnome is a very fine idea. :-)
I did not try Helix latest stuff yet.
