No, stuff which came with 6.2, 6.1 and something I compiled myself for
5.2. 6.0 was mostly broken in a very long list of areas (Gnome, in
particular, was in a terrible shape there) so I never had that
distribution in any serious use. I had, probably, the least frequent
accidents with binaries from my own compilations but for me often
enough to not consider KDE anything else but a toy (not even a pretty
one, IMO, but beauty is in an eye of a beholder...).

Either you are very lucky or your tolerance threshold on "surprises" is
much higher than mine. :-)

Maybe, but I have seen that on at least three really different
hardware types (Cabriolet, UX, DP264 and probably LX - the last one
I do not remember) with different graphics card (Mach64, Elsa Gloria).

There was no sound involved in my experience. This is just
what I have seen myself.
