"Could not find platform independent libraries" in 6.2 install

OK. This one appears in the archives for 6.1, but with the advice to use
the new boot floppy images, or try 6.2. Since I'm trying to upgrade from
6.0 to 6.2, those comments aren't really relevant.

I'm on an LX164 with AlphaBIOS/MILO trying to install over the
NFS from a RedHat file structure downloaded from a mirror.
After telling the installer where to find the RedHat file structure (which
is then successfully mounted) I get the following error

Could not find platform independent libraries<prefix>
Consider setting $PYTHONHOME to <prefix>[:<exec_prefix>]
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Traceback (innermost last):
File "/usr/bin/anaconda", line 15, in ?

Any ideas, or pointers to even newer boot floppy images is most welcome.

Thanks in advance.
