My AS200 4/233 was actually my introduction to Red Hat.

Makes sense. More people have them, and more people work on them. The faster
Alphas are also priced a little out of college-student-hobbyist range. :)

Ditto. I simply like experimenting with other platforms. I don't have an
enormous amount of cash to throw into it (graduate student = no money :) ), so
my Alphas are a tad behind the times, but I think they're still nice machines.
My AS200 at the lab running Applixware has also been rock stable. It's nice to
not be afraid of doing other stuff on the machine for fear the spreadsheet will
crash (Applix has some problems, but crashing hasn't been one of them).
