I prefer http installs, they seem the most stable (and fast!)
Piglet works just fine on my SX164. I have NFS and SAMBA running here
without too much trouble. My only beef was no support for the IDE
controller in this box CY83C693 (?) but I fixed that with Andre
Hedrick's kernel patch and recompile.
