Debian kernel panic!

Gentlemen,

After installing Debian 2.2r2 on Jensen, I set up aboot to use
the aboot.conf debian kernel definitions:

abootconf /dev/sdb1 4

with aboot.conf:
0:4/vmlinuz-2.2.18pre21-jensen ro root=/dev/sdb2

where 4 is the /boot partition number.
I am getting the error message: KERNEL PANIC when rebooting the system:
boot -fl 0 dka200

Now, using the commands:

boot -fl i dka200
aboot> b 0/a root=/dev/sdb2

I am able to boot but using the pre-defined aboot kernel 2.2.17
(jensen17.img).
Does anyone know what is causing this crash?

thanks in advance,
Luiz
