cdparanoia/cdda2wav also work okay IIRC.

then you need an mp3 encoder... IIRC (again) I got LAME to build with gcc,
but not with ccc (which I was hoping I could get for performance reasons).

Otherwise, bladeenc seems to be quite portable...
