Re: Network crash problem on PC164

I have an alpha-PC164 running RH6.2 and experience network crash as well. I have a SCSI host adapter (Adaptec 2940UW); no IDE.

I have more or less the same problem with my SX. Whenever I use something on
my IDE bus the machine acts weird. Serial comm drops so my modem stops
working, sometime the timer stops and always my mouse and keyboard died. The
mouse/kb stop working all the time but background processes keep running
(like writing a CD scsi->scsi). The way I fixed is: buy scsi. Not the
cheapest way, but I am happy with the change made (IDE->SCSI). To me it
looks like a irq/busmaster/dma kind of thing. But I am nowhere near an
expert. Turning off DMA still gives me the same problems. So I hope someone
else can give a more meaningful reply.

Cheers,
