Re: Network crash problem on PC164

I am new to this kernel compilation. What do I do. I am running RH 6.2. on a PC164.

I don't know if I'm helping by adding my two cents, but here goes:

I have a digital Server 3300 (Noritake) that had exactly the type of problems you describe -- network traffic would eventually lock the machine up. I fiddled around with NIC drivers, but without success.

Then, people on this list (Thanks Kurt!) suggested that the Noritakes could be a little buggy with the stock kernel and that I should recompile. I recompiled the kernel and haven't had a system lockup since. It's been three months, where before I couldn't go 15 minutes (using the network) without locking up!

My solution may or may not help you (with your different architecture).

Keep trying and good luck!
