Let's correct that slightly.
SOME (perhaps most) IDE CDROMs work fine under SRM.
Best test is to try to install TRU64.
We find that in CDROMs you tend to get what you pay for. Most of the better Japanese brands work fine (Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, TEAC) and most of the Taiwanese and Korean models don't cut it (Samsung, Liteon, AFreey, AOpen, for example).
