I'm glad I'm not a Compaq stock holder.
More money than braincells alert

In these troubled times, it's always refreshing to see a major company
concentrating on vital issues. It would be even more refreshing if Compaq
tried it for once.
Users of Alphaservers are obviously nor short of a few bob, but one has to
wonder at the sanity of any user who would seriously consider paying $11,000
for an upgrade that simply changes the colour of the cabinet. Similarly, one
has to wonder at the sanity of any company that would offer such a
singularly-useless option.
New Compaq WildFire (GS-Series) systems are now decked out in a tasteful
iPAQ livery (carbon black and silver trim). If you're a fashion-conscious
owner of an older Top Gun Blue (that's the official name, honest) WildFire,
you can upgrade to the new corporate colour scheme. The iPAQ skins are
priced at $11,000 for the Alphaserver GS320 and a very reasonable $9,000 for
the GS160.
And Mike Capellas wonders why Q was deemed ripe for plucking
