You should also add--> console=ttyS0
to your boot parameters in /etc/aboot.conf, you do not have to set
baud rate .. it defaults to 9600 on these boxes.. If no graphics card
is present it should default to this... but.......

on my xp1000, it run mingetty on the serial port..
add the following line to /etc/inittab (you will see were, after the
other mingettys are)
add this--> S0:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty ttyS0
mingetty will run the console just fine.
Also add to /etc/securetty, the following entry
add this--> ttyS0
This will allow you to login as root through the serial port.

Subject: serial console
Hi,
I have several xp1000 (not for sail) withou video card and
i'd like to have access to them through the serial port.
I compiled a kernel with support for "terminal on serial port",
and tried with an old vt100 terminal but i lost contact after
aboot starts the kernel!!
Can someone help me please!
I have some question related with the machines you sell on this
list: today there was a PWS 500a for $275 US dolars (i think) which
is very cheap... here a PWS 500a would cost something like 10x that!!
I have several xp1000 with 256 MB ram that costed about $5000 US
dolars!!!
Can you please tell me whats going on.
Regards, nelson
