Re: Memory for LX164

Hi,

The ram that was in my LX164 is, for the moment, in an Asus P3B-F, and the BIOS screen that
I see when I boot the Asus motherboard always shows the memory as having SPD, no matter
what I set it to(SPD, or User-defined, or 125MHz(8 ns)) in the BIOS.
That's why I'm wondering if SPD memory can be used in an LX164.
The memory is Mitsubishi MH8S72ALD-10 676C011E 64MB 9x(8Mx8) ECC, unbufferred.
I cannot find anything on the web about whether it has an SPD EEPROM or not.
Should I be able to tell if the memory module has an EEPROM chip on it by looking at it?

Most x86 motherboards that call for PC100 memory will work with PC133 memory
(at PC100 speed). I haven't been able to find anything on the web that says
if that does or doesn't apply to an LX164 motherboard.

Any ideas or comments will be appreciated.

David
