It is not good that Red Hat decides not to support the Alpha.
Further, readers of this mailing list act as if using Debian/Alpha
was somehow a step down. Be Happy! You finally have a legitimate
reason to use and support Debian/Alpha. I have two Alphas running
Debian/Alpha/Woody and v2.4.12 of the kernel. I am very happy
with these systems and have never looked back when I reformatted the
hard drives to remove the pre-installed RedHat from those systems
(several years ago).
The main thing I like about Debian is the ease of upgrading. apt-get is
perhaps the best upgrade tool ever. Further, the Alpha systems are
consistent with the Intel systems and both maintained exactly the same
way. Take a look at www.debian.org.
