True, and I realize that.

But the fact is that this panic about Red Hat is equally unwarranted.

Honestly, would all the people on this list who bought boxed Red Hat 7.1 
please raise their hands?

Hmm, I don't see many of you moving..  <grin>

Fact is that "official" support for Alpha by these commercial companies was 
not so much about a money making project as to please some vendors.
With the vendor support from Compaq melting, I think we are back to a 
volunteer effort for the most part.

Let's face it, they are doing an IA64 version.
Just how many of those do you think they expect to sell soon??
