Re[2]: raises a foot for creating the 7.1CD

Hi 'bryce',

I see, you donnot have an AS800 to test the CD boot on, but have a quite
impressive arsenal of the EV6 machines. I would assume, the coop with Compaq
could provide you access to the necessary test equipment.

The AS800 has an embedded Q-Logic ISP 1020 (rev 5) SCSII chipset integrated on
the main board and the CD (RRD47 from DEC) is by factory put on ID 4 so it's
"DKA400" in the SRM console. There should not be anything peculiar with the
AS800 and the proof is that RH6.2 did not show any boot/installation problems.
So there must be a simple difference between 6.2 and 7.1 that can explain the
behaviour. It could be, that the "generic" is not "generic enough".

But, as I have purchased the RH Alpha Deluxe kit, I'm allso entitled to service
and have opened a request no. 193488 which is handled by some Estrella A.
Rondolo.

So if I get it solved this way, I certainly retract my "unpolite" comments,
which were, of course, not meant at you but at RH.

Hilsen
Peter Bech
