ABSTRACT: Recently, The Inquirer erroneously reported that Red Hat was
dropping support for Alpha in its release stream and that there would be no
Red Hat 7.2 for the Alpha processor. "This is totally untrue," according to
Alanna Dwyer of the Compaq Linux Program Office. "Red Hat has released Red
Hat 7.2 for Intel, but did not preclude upcoming support for Alpha-based
systems. In fact, Compaq has been working closely with Red Hat on a joint
plan to ensure Linux and Red Hat compatibility and support on our new
AlphaServer systems, as well as release of the new Red Hat version 7.2. We
are close to completing the joint agreement with Red Hat, and an
announcement from Red Hat with regard to their continued support for Alpha
will be issued as soon as possible once we have the final agreement."
