To the list:
I have been struggling for a couple weeks with my new, used PWS50a ...
Fortunately I got a response from Jay Estabrook to a question i sent in
on the Compaq support line.
I recognized him from this list and the Tru64 list, so i puimnped hime
for all he was worth.
Thanks, Jay!
I got the machine up and running finally.
The install problems turned out to be hardware-related, which i was able
to figure out by, at Jay's suggestion, rummaging around with the Digital
Unix (that installed QUITE smoothly, thank you.)
I was able to get the floppy disk working by running the computer for 12
hours straight. A junk CDRrom from a dead PC at work took care of the
CDrom problems and the installation went well ... except for scorching
the Digital Unix installation a little.
The machine has a DEC 4D10T video card, which the Red Hat deals with
smoothly.
