In case it will be of some help, ...
At least with an Oxygen VX1 card in a UP2000, XFree86 version 4.2.0
is _much_ improved from any previous 4.* version. For RH7.2, Mike
Harris says he has RPMs of 4.2.0 in a test or rawhide area. Or,
you can compile it from xfree86.org's sources and put it in /usr/local
so you can switch back and forth between the existing RH RPM 4.1.0
version and the /usr/local 4.2.0 version at will. If you do the
/usr/local thing, I'd suggest removing the suid-root bit from the
xterm binary (_scary_) and adding /usr/local/X11R6/lib to
/etc/ld.so.conf
