Subject: Upgrading to 7.1, need help with partitioning
I own an Alpha PC 164-LX which is currently running Redhat 6.0. I'm
trying to upgrade to 7.1. After spending 4-5 hours just trying
to get the install program to run, now I'm faced with this error
message
saying I need 3 MB more space on my /boot partition. Currently it's
a 10 MB partition.
Does this mean I have to repartition my drive? Is this something I
can
accomplish safely either using AlphaBios or one of the fdisk
utilities?
I've run into this when I've upgraded on two different
machines (AMD and Alpha). In my case, both times,
it appears I ran out of partition space for the packages
I wanted to add.
The solution both times was a fresh install. Luckily, I
generally poke around, learning the OS and had very
few files to worry about saving.
Maybe someone has had better luck...
