Since you appear to be reading 'aboot' from the CD I doubt that
upgrading SRM is going to help.

Are they three copies of the same CD?
Where did you get it?

What happens if you try reading this file on another machine and do
'gunzip --test kernels/vmlinux.gz' to verify the file?
