The three copies are of different makes of CDs which i burned 
myself, after a md5sum check on the downloaded iso file,
the sum  compared exactly.

The gunzip -t kernels/vmlinux.gz came up with the following errors
hda:command error: error=0x51
end-request: I/O error
hda: command error: status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Erro}
gunzip: vmlinux.gz: Input/Output error
