RE: clearing SRM password for LX164

:-(. That's about the look you'll have when you're finished restoring
the console. I'm not kidding. LX SROM does not clear the SRM password
but the one in AlphaBIOS. To clear the SRM password, one has to load
DEBUG MONITOR and directly erase parts of flash and then do some clean
up steps once in SRM. It's an involved process and error prone. Moreover
LX's have banked flash memory so the procedures I've used in the past
for newer machines doesnt apply. I need to figure out the ROM addressing
all over again.

I have an LX here I can setup and recreate the error mode you have. DO NOT
attempt to restore this machine until I provide you with a procedure. I'm
pretty sure the HALT+RESET combination does not work on LXs to reset the
password. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. One question. Is this a DEC
made LX or a Samsung? The former DEBUG MONITOR has support for it's flash
chip, The latter does not. It'll say the manufacturer on the board, easy to
spot.
