I see the short read/write near the end of fs when using a vanilla
2.4.18 kernel.  This occurred with both an IDE and SCSI based PC164
box.  Does someone knows if there is a patch for this problem?

I'm going to build a 2.4.18-26 Redhat patched
kernel to see if it is fixed in their flurry of patches.
