Hi Ingo and the other Alpha users,

I tried to boot with the line you gived me but I was not able to
find a initrd on the RH7.1 CD1.

However I don`t thing that my MILO 2.0.35 is able to understand the
initrd flag.
Have a look to this link:
http://lists.alphalinux.org/pipermail/milo-list/2000-June/000000.html

On my RH5.2 system there is no initrd even no /sbin/mkinitrd.
But on the RH7.1 CD1 there is a mkinitrd.rpm. I can try
to pack it out to my hd but I'm in doubt that it will works with my
milo.

Again I tried:

boot fd:vmlinux.gz root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1

or

boot -t iso9660 sr:kernels/vmlinux.gz root=/dev/scd load_ramdisk=1
prompt_ramdisk=1

It starts to unzip the kernel '################### etc....
After a while I can see for a very short time a load of
register entries that sort of rc1=fffff003003 ........
Than makes a reboot and it goes back to MILO
So it must be the
CONFIG_ALPHA_LEGACY_START_ADDRESS=yes
problem.
Since it will be a hard job to compile the newest kernel
on an RH5.2 system. (I gues I will have a lot of problems with
my libraries, gcc etc...) I think there is no trick I can use
to get the
"Welcome to Red Hat 7.1 Installation" message.
Actualy I need a ruffian boot.img that will start the RH7.1
installlation.

Can some body help with?

Thanks a lot

Marcel
