As it was mentioned, among other places, on this list already at
the beginning of March version 1.27 was released specifically to
fix bugs affecting mostly Alpha and MIPS. I did not verify if the
latest available update for Alpha has these bugs supposedly fixed
but we have seen already a number of reports of troubles with this
particular version of programs. Why Red Hat did not issue an update
I do not know (Phil?).

It would be nice if somebody with a verified case would file a bug
report on bugzilla (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/).  No reports
may mean no fixes.

If you will run 'rpmbuild -ta e2fsprogs-1.27.tar.gz' then you will end
up with one source and 2 binary rpms "1.27-0" as a spec file is inside.
These will install, obviously, over 1.26 :-).
