No, it was never implemented that way. There were hooks to allow for OS
shutdown, but not powerdown. The definition of what constituted
"shutdown" was a moving target at the time and none of us ever got a clear
indication of what we were supposed to implement before we released
it. There were plans to discuss it further and implement "the correct
solution" after we were to receive a more specific requirements list, but
that didn't happen in time.
Also, even if the code were still there to touch the I2C bus to power down
the UP2k+'s, I'm not sure that the SRM version that was needed was ever
released (again, due to the confusion as to what the proper implementation
was to be).
